If your travel plan doesn't preview the visits to the restaurants and in the same time you enjoy getting to know the local market I would like to present you several local grocery shops, easy to find wherever you decide to stay in Lisbon.


  • Pingo Doce which means Sweet Drop (isn't it sweet :) ?)  is a cheap but very well provided grocery with a take away where you can eat something warm and typically portuguese like "Bacahalhau a bras" (cod prepared with rice, potatoes, onion) or empanadas/pasteis (cold or warm snacks filled with meat, shrimps or vegetables; fried in oil) from which the most typical are pasteis de bacalhau made of cod and potatoes. 
    • You can check their actual promotions in "Esta Semana" (This Week) and check the closest shop to you hotel in "Lojas" (shops)

      • Chao do Loureiro - close to Elevador Sao Jorge, Castel Sao Jorge, Se - the Cathedral of Lisboa, Church of Saint Anthony
      • 1o Dezembro - close to the Rossio Railway Station, Avenida Libertade, Dom Pedro IV Square
      • Cais do Sodre - at the railway station, on 0 level, close to the entrance to the platforms
      • Santa Apolonia - at the railway station, entrance from the street and a platform
      • Graca - in the heart of famous Graca district
      • Campo Santa Ana  - close to Avenida Libertade, Rua da Palma and next to the parc Campo Martires da Patria
      • Almirante Reis - close to the Chile Place (Praca do Chile), next to metro station Arroios
      • Tomas Ribeiro - Picoas - close to Picoas metro station, Marques de Pombal Place, Parc Eduardo VII
      • Largo do Rato - close to the Rato metro station - the terminal for yellow line (Linha Amarela) 
    • Pingo Doce opens generally at 8.30 a.m but some shops start only at 9.00 am,  and closes at 9.00 p.m. 
  • Mini Preco means Small Price, see on a map following centrally located ones. 
    • Rua da Palma 274 - which is a continuation of Avenida Almirante Reis, heading Martim Moniz Square. 
    • Rua de Forno do Tijolo- very close to Anjos metro station
    • Largo Calhariz 8 - close to Miradouro Santa Catarina and Largo Camoes
    • Rua Santo Beneto 15 - like above
    • R. Barata Selgueiro 4 - close to Restauradores and Avenida metro station as well as Ascensor do Lavra

    • Av. Defensores de Chaves 7- Quite a big market, close to Saldanha Square.
    • R. Alm. Barroso 9 - Saldanha /  Estephania area. 
    • Continente Bom Dia - Santa Quitéria
