LISBON'S AIRPORT

The Lisbon's airport is located close to the city centre, composed of only 2 terminals. There is a very good transportation to the centry by:

  •  subway (metro) Subway in Lisbon  to take from Terminal 1. Just follow signals with the letter "M"
    The station name is "Aeroporto", service by the red line (Linha Vermelha). As "Aeroporto" is the last stop, you can only take the direction of S. Sebastiao.
    These are 3 other lines in Lisbon:
    •  green (Linha Verde) to wchich you can change at "Alameda" station,
    • yellow (Linha Amarela) at "Saldanha" station,
    • blue (Linha Azul) at "S. Sebastiao". 
    • Metro network
    • You need a "a viva viagem card" to take the metro (0,50 eur) topped up with one of a following options:
    • card to be bought in the ticket machines in every metro entrances,
    • 6 eur allowing you to travel without limits within 24 hour after the first use (passing metro gate or taking a bus),
    • 5, 10 or 15 eur without time limits which gives you the possibility to travel for 1,25 eur per one metro journey including connections,  
    • otherwise a single journey costs 1,40 eur. 
    • you need your "viva viagem card" when you are entering metro station and leaving it,
    • metro working daily between 6.30 a.m and 1.00 a.m.
    • during the weekends and feasts most of stations having only one entrance open,
    • any doubts? There is a Metropolitan Lisboa desk at the entrance to any station.
    • you can use the same card to take a bus. 
  • bus  (carris)
    • 708 (map) taking direction of Martim Moniz will bring you to the center of the Lisbon and taking the opposite direction to Parque das Nacoes - business quarter of Lisbon and Oceanarium
    • 208 (map) going through Avenida Almirante Reis, Rua da Palma, Martin Moniz Square to Cais do Sodre
    • 722 (map) will bring you to Praca Londres (London Square), close to metro Alameda and Avenida Joao XXI
    • 744 (map) finishes and starts its route at Marques Pombal Square, within walking distance to many hotels and Avenida Libertade - Lisbon's Champs Elyses :)
    • 783 (map) is directing to Amoreiras Commercial Center throuhg Saldanha (M), Picoas (M), Marques de Pombal (M)
    • you use the same "viva viagem card" as for metro so one single travel costs 1,40 eur (to buy directly from a bus driver) or 1,25 eur if you're using zapping car or is included in your 24h ticket when buying it for 6 eur in a machine
    • validate your card when entering a bus
    • when you're travelling with more than one bus line within 1,5 h you will be debited only once 1,25 eur if using viva viagem card. Doesn't work as a combination with travelling by metro. 
  • taxis 
    • several services availible like
    • the average price of the service between aiport and the city centre (ex. Praca da Figueira)  during a week day should not exceed 15 eur. Comparing the costs of public transport, travelling by taxi in Lisbon is quite worthy especially for at least two passangers.
